Jumpstart your 2025 Opt-Out Request this October!
Transit Employees Health and Welfare will begin accepting 2025 Opt-Out requests from October 1st through November 15th.
Please note that members must renew their Opt-Out election every year during Open Enrollment.
*Effective January 1, 2025, members with an outstanding premium balance may still opt-out of plan coverage. However, they will not be eligible for the $1,500 premium conversion payment until the past due premium balance is fully paid. Those enrolled in Medicare may opt-out of coverage but will not be eligible for the $1,500 premium conversion payment.
To complete the opt-out process, please provide the following documents to our office:
- Opt-Out form
- Proof of Health insurance coverage (copy of card)
- WMATA Employee ID
Remember, all Opt-Out requests must be renewed annually during Open Enrollment, or you will be placed in the medical/dental default plan effective January 1, 2025.
Opt-out requests received after Open Enrollment through January 1, 2025, will receive a prorated share of the annual Premium Conversion payment.
